Summer is in full swing! Family vacation time is here and Independence Day is just around the corner. This is a great opportunity to go through some parenting time tips to carry you and your children through the summer season. Smooth sailing and don’t forget the sunscreen! Tip #1. Respect parental privacy. Parenting time should not be used as an opportunity to question the child about the other parent’s personal life. Respect the privacy of your ex-spouse and do not interrogate the child about significant others or any other aspect of his or her social life.
Tip #2. No negative campaigning. As difficult as it may sometimes be, do not speak negatively of the other parent in the presence of your child.

Baltimore Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man in Northeast Baltimore Wednesday night in an apparent dispute over money, officials said.
Officers first responded to the 5600 block of McClean Boulevard at 7:03 p.m., but they found the victim, identified as Andre Womack, behind apartments in the 5500 block of Grindon Avenue, in the Hamilton Hills community, according to police.
A medical crew pronounced Womack dead at the scene at 7:20 p.m., police said.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that makers of generic drugs cannot be sued for failing to warn consumers of the possible side effects of their products if they copy the exact warnings on the medicines’ brand-name equivalents.
The majority opinion acknowledged that the decision dealt an “unfortunate hand” that “makes little sense” to those who were harmed by generic drugs and are unable to sue the drugmakers.
A sharply divided court decided in a 5-4 judgment that the federal law requiring generics to have the same warnings as their brand-name equivalents trumps state laws that allow people to sue drug companies that fail to present proper warnings for their products.
This decision could affect millions of Americans, given that generics make up 75 percent of the prescription drugs dispensed in the United States, justices said.
“As a result of today’s decision, whether a consumer harmed by inadequate warnings can obtain relief turns solely on the happenstance of whether her pharmacist filled her prescription with a brand-name or generic drug,” Justice Sonia Sotomayor said in a strongly worded dissent. “

Madison - A provision in the state budget would give more legal protection to researchers performing animal testing in the state.
Some animal rights activists say this will let researchers off the hook for animal cruelty, while researchers say it is necessary to close a loophole to ensure scientific studies continue.
The amendment would exempt animal researchers in Wisconsin from any state criminal penalties for animal cruelty. Researchers would still be liable under federal law if they violate the protocol of their research institution.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A West Lafayette City Councilman will pack his bags and head to Washington D.C. Friday morning to meet with President Obama and other White House officials.
“There is really only so much the federal government can do from the top down. It really has to start on a local level,” said West Lafayette District One Democratic Councilman Eddie VanBogaert.
He’s taking his local-level experience to the President and other White House administrators. VanBogaert was in Washington D.C.
